MyTummyHurts ("we", "us") helps you understand how food sits with your gut. This policy explains what we collect, why, and where it goes. Short version: your data exists to power your own results. We don't sell it, we don't run ads, and we don't share it with data brokers.
What we collect
- Account details. Your name, email address, and a sign-in identifier when you use Sign in with Apple or Google.
- Health information you choose to log. Digestive conditions and sensitivities you declare, symptom check-ins, and daily gut reports. This is health data, and it is the heart of the app; we treat it accordingly.
- Meal content. Photos and descriptions of meals you scan, portion choices, scan results, and your food history.
- Purchases. Your subscription status and purchase history.
- Usage and diagnostics. Product analytics events tied to your account, and crash reports that are device-level and not linked to your identity.
How we use it
We use your data to analyze meals, personalize your food risk reads, build your trigger and safe-food insights over time, show your history, and send optional daily report reminders. Nothing else.
Where it goes
Core infrastructure is self-hosted on our own servers. A small set of service providers process data on our behalf:
- OpenAI — meal photos and descriptions are sent to generate the AI analysis. OpenAI does not use API data to train its models.
- RevenueCat — subscription purchases and entitlement management.
- PostHog — product analytics.
- Sentry — crash reporting (not linked to your identity).
- Apple and Google — sign-in and payment processing.
We never sell your personal data or share it for advertising.
Retention and deletion
Your data is kept while your account is active so the app can keep personalizing your results. You can request account deletion at any time from Settings; deleting your account removes your app data from the active service.
